A 101st Airborne Division Soldier died Oct. 29, when he came under attack from rocket propelled grenades while on a mounted patrol in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan.
Spec. Pedro A. Maldonado, 20, of Houston, Texas, was an Infantryman assigned to Company B., 1st Battalion, 502th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). He joined the Army in August 2008 and arrived at Fort Campbell in September 2009.
His awards and decorations include: National Defense Service Medal; Afghanistan Campaign Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Army Service Ribbon; and the Combat Infantry Badge.
Maldonado is survived by his father, Pedro Maldonado, and mother, Maria Maldonado of Houston, Texas.
