Big Brothers Big Sisters of Clarksville

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Claksville

who we are

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Clarksville is an one-to-one mentoring agency that has served Clarksville, TN since 1975. We have two programs to choose from – the Community-Based Program and the School-Based Program. A special part of both programs is the Amachi program, specializing in mentoring children who have a parent or other close relative in State or Federal prison. Big Brothers and Sisters aren’t expected to be substitute parents or teachers. You don’t need experience, money or a degree; you simply need to be a friend who enjoys bringing a little “magic” into the life of a child.

Which Program is Best for You?
Community-Based Program (Including Amachi matches)
Must be 18 years old
Commit to a one-year match
Meet 4-8 hours a month doing things you both enjoy
Arrange outings to fit with your schedule
Matched with a child according to your interests
Outings normally during late afternoon, evening and weekend hours.

School-Based Program (Including Amachi matches)
Must be 18 years old
Commit to at least one school year
Meet just 45-60 minutes once a week at school
Matched with a child according to your interests

Compare your personal schedule to each program. If you have more free time during early evening and weekend hours, then the Community-Based Program might be your best choice. If you have an employer willing to let you visit a child for 45-60 minutes once a week at school (many businesses do!), or if you can spare one lunch hour a week, then the School-Based Program would work best for you.

We have many great kids waiting for a Big Brother or Sister in both programs. Our screening process is specially designed to create successful matches between children and adult Big Brothers and Sisters. Our case managers are always available to support you and answer any questions you may have about your match. Just give us a call at (931) 647-1418. You can also e-mail us at info@bbbsclarksville.org. Someone “Little” is waiting for someone “Big” to bring a little magic into his or her life!
