Man Dies in Head On- First Vehicle Fatality of 2012



UPDATED

The names of those involved in the fatal traffic crash from February 3, 2012 are: 
 
1)Driver of the GMC Sierra-TYLER J. HEAD, 20, of Springfield, TN (DECEASED); Passenger-LUCAS P. HALEY, 19, of Springfield, TN (CRITCAL, STABLE); Driver of the Dodge Durango-VINCENT D. CLARK, 31, of Clarksville (STABLE); and Passenger-DENESHA M. CLARK, 26. of Clarksville. (RELEASED FROM HOSPITAL).
 
The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.



CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - The first vehicle fatality of 2012 was as a result of a head-on collision at the 1500 Block of Madison Street which occurred around 7:40 am.  According to witness accounts, a Dodge Durango driven by a 31 year old man traveling east on Madison Street, for an unknown reason, crossed into the west bound lane of Madison Street and collided head-on with a GMC Sierra driven by a 20 year old man.  The 20 year old man died at the scene.

The 19 year male passenger in the GMC Sierra and the 31 year old driver of the  Durango were both taken by Lifeflight to Vanderbilt.  The 19 year old sustained multiple traumatic injuries and was in extremely critical condition.  The 31 year old had possible head injuries and some other injuries, but is in stable condition. The 26 old female passenger in the Durango was taken by ambulance to Gateway Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, treated, and released.
 
The occupants of the GMC Sierra were not wearing seatbelts.  The occupants of the Durango were wearing seatbelts.  Madison Street, between Liberty Pkwy and the Crossland extension was closed for approximately four hours.
 
The crash investigation is ongoing and the lead investigator is Officer Evon Parkes. Names will be released after notification of family. Anyone with information can call, 931-645-8477.
