APSU Extended Ed Offers Spring Classes



CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.— Develop a new skill, explore a new idea, learn a new language, or seek a new career with one of the spring classes from Austin Peay State University’s Center for Extended and Distance Education. Register early and receive a 10 percent discount on selected courses. Preregistration is required for each course.

Languages offered in the Spring from Extended Ed:
  • Spanish Language and Culture—Part 1 will meet from 6–8 p.m., Thursdays, March 1–April 5 at APSU’s McReynolds Building, Room 206. (course $152, supply $7)
  • ESL – Beginning Conversation will meet from 6–8 p.m., Mondays, March 12–April 16 at APSU’s McReynolds Building, Room 206. (course $150, supply $10)
  • ESL – TOEFL Preparation, Intermediate/Advanced will meet from 6–8 p.m., Mondays, March 12–April 16 at APSU’s McReynolds Building, Room 204. (course $150, supply $10)
  • ESL – Intermediate Business English will meet from 6–8 p.m., Tuesdays, March 13–April 17 at APSU’s McReynolds Building, Room 206. (course $150, supply $10)
  • ESL – Advanced Grammar and Writing will meet from 6–8 p.m., Thursdays, March 15–April 19 at APSU’s McReynolds Building, Room 204. (course $150, supply $10)
Computer software applications offered:
  • MS Excel 2007 will meet from 6-8 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, Feb. 16–March 1 at APSU’s McReynolds Building, Room 101. (course $128, lab $5, supply $5)
 
Professional development courses offered:
  • Human Resources Certificate—Part 1 will meet from 6-8 p.m., Thursdays, Feb. 23–March 22 at APSU’s McReynolds Building, Room 203. (course $124, supply $7)
Creative arts courses offered:
  • Alternative Drawing and Painting Techniques will meet from 6-8 p.m., Thursdays, March 1–April 5 at APSU’s Clement Building, Room 206. (course $144, supply $30)
Test prep offered:
  • Cracking the ACT—ACT Test Prep will meet from 9–11 a.m., Saturdays, Feb. 25–March 24 at APSU’s McReynolds Building, Room 219. (course $124, lab $5, supply $26)
Tennessee Small Business Development Center:
  • Starting and Financing a Small Business will meet from 10 a.m.– noon, Tuesday, Feb. 28 at ACS-ACAP Center, Fort Campbell, Ky. (free)
Parenting, health and safety classes:
  • American Heart Healthcare Provider CPR class will meet from 8 a.m.–3 p.m. Saturday, March 3 at APSU’s McReynolds Building, Room 203. (course $75)
  • Pharmacy Technician Certificate class will meet from 6–9:30 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, March 5–June 11 at APSU’s McReynolds Building, Room 219. (course $1099)
  • Phlebotomy Technician Certificate class will meet from 6:30-10 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, March 6–April 19 at APSU’s McReynolds Building, Room 219. (course $3275)
  • Clinical Medical Assistant class will meet from 8 a.m.–4 p.m., Saturdays, March 10–June 9 at APSU’s McReynolds Building, Room 203.  (course $2895)
  • Parenting and Divorce, the court-mandated seminar for divorcing parents, will meet in Montgomery County from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., on Saturday, Feb. 25 at APSU’s McReynolds Building, Room 203. (course $40, text $15)
  • Parenting and Divorce, the court-mandated seminar for divorcing parents, will meet in Dickson County from 9 a.m.–1 p.m., Saturday, March 10 at the Renaissance Center, Room 220. (course $40, text $15)
  • Parenting and Divorce, the court-mandated seminar for divorcing parents, will meet in Robertson County from 6- 10 p.m., Tuesday, March 13 at Highland Crest, Room 211. (course $40, text $15)
 
The Center for Extended and Distance Education offers interactive television (ITV or videoconferencing) services. ITV provides essential real-time communication capability for a variety of functions. Details are available at http://www.apsu.edu/ext-ed/itv.
 
The Center also offers event planning services to make your conference, convention, or banquet a success. Services are available to help you plan all of the necessary details, from beginning to end, for events of one day or longer, on or off of APSU’s campus. The Center partners with Montgomery Rider Education Program in offering a motorcycle rider safety course. For more information or to register, contact the program director, Dee Gleason, at (931) 648-2208 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., weekdays.

In addition, the Center also offers year-round online certificate programs in administrative dental assistant, administrative professional with MOS, business marketing design, Cisco CCNA, digital arts, entrepreneurship, event management and design, forensic computer examiner, grant writing, graphic design, HVAC, home inspection, interior design, lean mastery, medical transcription, medical billing and coding, multimedia design, paralegal certification, personal fitness trainer, pharmacy technician, project management, records management, travel agent, wedding planner and many more.
