CHS Wrestling heads to State Championship Friday

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville High School Wrestling team heads to the Williamson County Expo Center this weekend hoping to bring a little something back to the Queen City, a state wrestling championship.

The state duals begin on Friday morning for Class AAA, and the Wildcats are the only full team from Clarksville headed to the tournament.  Clarksville will take on Powell in the opening round, to begin at 3:30 Friday afternoon.  If the Wildcats can get by Powell, the likely opponent for the second round would be Soddy-Daisy High School, who are currently ranked as the number 2 program in the state, compared to the Wildcat’s ranking of 11th.Clarksville High finished 6th last year in the state duals, and are looking to improve and that finish this year.

Entering this weekend’s state tournament, several Clarksville High wrestlers are getting recognition on the state level.  Each week, rankings for each weight class are released, and this week, the Wildcats are feature prominently.

Cody Oliver is ranked in the top ten at the 126 pound weight class, while Chad Isbell is currently the second ranked wrestler at 152, and had been the top ranked man for much of the season.  Tyler Crane is the 6th ranked wrestler in the 170 pound weight class, while Bruno Reagan is currently ranked as the 3rd best in the heavyweight 285 classification.
