CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Following two years of planning, building, re paving and remaking the old hospital site on Madison Street, Clarksville's first Publix Supermarket is set to open early Wednesday morning.
Publix Store #1392 at 1771 Madison Street covers some 54,340 square feet and will anchor a shopping center that marks the first major development in the area in years.
Publix, employing over 148,000, is also planning a second location on Tiny Town Road and Peachers Mill Road. Fortune magazine named the grocer one of the top 100 companies to work for and scored higher than any other supermarket for customer satisfaction in a national survey conducted by the American Customer Satisfaction Index.
Wednesday's ribbon cutting is expected to be attended by city leaders, regional Publix personnel and members of the Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce. The ceremony is scheduled for 6:45 a.m. Wednesday, February 1st.
