FT. CAMPBELL, KY—Soldiers assigned to the Wounded Transition Battalion are receiving innovative medical treatments as part of an integrative medical approach at the Warrior Care Clinic.

“I’ve noticed an extreme difference with the acupuncture. I get better sleep and the pain is more manageable,” Sergeant Rick Remalia, solider receiving treatment at the Warrior Care Clinic, said.

Along with conventional medical care the medical team offers such treatments that include Cranial Electrical Stimulation and Auricular Acupuncture, to enhance treatment of chronic pain and mood symptoms. 

“We are trying to use all medical modalities that can be helpful to the soldiers. So in addition to conventional medicine we are adding a holistic approach to increase what we have in our arsenal,” Colonel Rochelle Wasserman, Warrior Transition Battalion Surgeon and Medical Director, said.

She continued by stating that no one approach is the answer to a soldiers injuries and healing process. But this integrative approach allows the teams at the Warrior Care Clinic to better individualize a soldier’s care.

Wasserman concluded that primary goal of these treatments is to maximize the patient’s pain control and improve their quality life all while reducing the possible side effects.
