Clarksville Academy Football Banquet



CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Clarksville Academy, the 2011 10-A District Champions, held their 2011 Football Banquet Thursday and handed out their football awards at the Waterstreet Events Center. Head Football Coach Todd Hood acted as master of ceremonies along with help from the other members of the Cougars coaching staff.

Coach Hood handed out the first two awards which the first going to Carter Salyers as Special Teams Player of the Year. Next Coach Hood gave out the award for Most Improved Player which went to Connor Wise.

Offensive Line Coach Duncan Williams was next at the podium and he awarded the Offensive Lineman of the Year which was given to Daniel Miller. Gary Lee, Defensive Line Coach handed out the award for Defensive Lineman of the Year to Nathan Burkhart.

Ross Peay was honored with the Offensive Skill Player of the year by Offensive Coordinator Coach Mike Marciano and Defensive Backs Coach John Anderson was next and gave the Defensive Back Award to Brian Conn.

Daniel Miller picked up his second award of the night when Defensive Coordinator Coach Jim Snider gave him the Big Hit Award. The final award for team members came from Coach Marciano as two players, Josh Marciano and Hill Kinney both received the Off-Season Award.

There was one more special award that was given out at the football banquet and that was the Cougar Award. Coach Hood talked about the recipient of the Cougar Award, “I value him as a student and a guy that’s a part of our team and I value this young man as a friend of mine. This award is not going to a player this year, it’s not going to be a football player that receives this award this year it’s going to a true Clarksville Academy Cougar. The 2011 Cougar Award goes to my right-hand man Cody Hanna.

As each student received their individual awards they walked down the line of Clarksville Academy Coaches and shook each of their hands. Also recognized Thursday in 2011 District 10-A from Clarksville Academy was Morgan Burman as Offensive Most Valuable Player, Daniel Miller as Lineman of the Year, Carter Salyers as Special Teams Player of the Year and the Clarksville Academy staff as Staff of the Year.

Coach Hood then recognized the 2011 All District Team and Honorable Mention Team. The All District Team was made up of Nathan Burkhart, Ross Peay, Josh Marciano, Brian Conn, Kyle Cain, Dylan Ragsdale, Matt Hyams and Michael Denny. The Honorable Mention Team consisted of John Ross Rudolph, Ron Washington, Connor Wise and Nathanial Karraker.

The senior players with the Clarksville Academy Football Team also presented some awards at the banquet. Ted Denny with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office received a plaque as Chaplain of the Year and Clarksville Academy Assistant John Kendrick was given a football signed by all of the seniors.

Coach Hood wrapped up the evening by thanking the parents of all of the players who do so much to support the football team. He also thanked his coaching staff and their families as well as the administration at Clarksville Academy. Coach Hood also praised the Clarksville Academy football players, “Thanks to our players for the time dedication and effort on and off the field representing Clarksville Academy in a first class fashion,” Hood said.
