FORT CAMPBELL, KY. – Tennessee 7th District U.S. Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn visited Fort Campbell Monday to honor outstanding spouses of members of the U.S. Armed Forces.
Congressman Blackburn recognized and thanked the military spouses for their commitment to their families and their dedication to our Armed Forces and the Nation.
The “Outstanding Military Spouse Award” honors the spouses of current U.S. Armed Service members whose daily support is crucial to the lives of our military men and women. Nominees are selected based on their community and military involvement, overcoming of challenges and their impact within the military.
Blackburn honored the following twelve women with the Outstanding Military Spouse Award. Jennifer Cornelius, Elisabeth Day Del Gesso, Amanda Rae Henry, Susan Jordan, Diana Moore, Patricia Moseley, Jackie O’Keefe-Phillips, Jennifer Ryan, Carmelita Torres, Editha Tuttle-Spicer, Regina Urbanski and Laura Eileen Baie Yates.
“It was a privilege to be with the dedicated men and women of our military and their spouses, and to give thanks for what they do for our great country. While members of our military are scattered around the world fighting to protect our freedom, these military spouses have logged thousands of volunteer hours working to better their community,” Blackburn said.
“I’m honored to be accepted as a recipient for Marsh Blackburn’s award for outstanding military spouses. I would like to accept this award on behalf of all the other military spouses who are volunteering and serving as professionals throughout the Department of Defense,” said Laura Eileen Baie Yates, one of the spouses who received an award.
Another award recipient, Editha Tuttle-Spicer talked about how she finds time to volunteer with her busy schedule. “I would say it’s a passion. You always have time to help others,” Tuttle-Spicer said.
