Women's Health Clinic to Temporarily Move

FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. – There will be a temporary move of the Women’s Health Clinic, known as the OB/GYN clinic, while the permanent clinic location.

The Women’s Health Clinic will stop clinical services temporarily from February 16th-21st in order to move.  Patients needing services may be seen by their primary care manager for acute non-OB related issues or by BACH’s Emergency Center or Urgent Care Center.

The Women’s Health Clinic will reopen on February 22nd in the temporary location, where it will operate for approximately one year.  The temporary location will be beside Blanchfield Army Community Hospital’s (BACH) “C” building overflow parking area, behind the Bank of America on Bastogne Avenue.

The Women’s Health Department provides pre-natal and post partum care to active duty Soldiers, retirees and their family members. BACH’s Women’s Health Department averages 3,800 outpatient visits and 150 births monthly and during the baby boom time periods, the team averages around 200 births.

The department staff members have recently been encouraging patients in the idea of Centering Pregnancy where they offer group prenatal visits to women in similar stages of pregnancy. Pregnant women meet together, as their provider facilitates discussions while the women develop a support network throughout their pregnancy. Centering Pregnancy was developed by the Centering Healthcare Institute and is being offered across the country, including organizations such as the University of Kentucky, Vanderbilt University, University of California, Virginia Commonwealth University, Brooke Army Medical Center and several other military treatment facilities. Yale and Emory University study results indicated prenatal care provided in this format was found to lower the risk of preterm birth by as much as 33 percent.
