Plans Unveiled for Clarksville Greenways Bridge

Mayor John E. Piper unveiled plans Wednesday for a new walkway bridge that will extend the Clarksville Greenways across a 600-foot ravine, and allow the current walking trail to connect to a planned trail to Heritage Park. Work on the 1.2 mile section of the trail that extends from the bridge to the park is not expected to begin until after construction of the bridge is finished.

The Clarksville City Council has already budgeted $1.1 million for the $1.45 million it will cost to build the structure. The mayor also announced a donation of $250,000 from an anonymous family that will go toward the construction of the bridge. The bridge is scheduled to be finished by November 30 of this year.

At the conclusion of the unveiling, Mayor Piper said, “I hope each of you continues to see the quality of life issues that we’ve been committed to over the years and continue to see the investment in the community so our citizens can benefit and live in a place that’s recognized as Tennessee’s top spot.”
