At a press conference and unveiling ceremony on Thursday, Museum Director Alan Robinson, told the assembled crowd that the new gallery will be named in honor of the Clarksville Jaycees Foundation.

The new gallery will be located in the Heritage Hall, the museum’s main exhibit gallery in the 1898 Customs House building.

The initial piece for the exhibit, an oversized gavel, was donated by the Jaycees and was unveiled at the event.

Healy Kohler Design will serve as principal designer and project manager for the transition of the new exhibit space.

City Mayor Kim McMillan thanked the Jaycees and the museum board for making this museum the kind of place that we want to have everybody benefit from.

This lead gift will kick off the museum’s long range fundraising plans to renovate the museum’s permanent gallery spaces.
