CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Severe thunderstorms in the area caused many fires in the area including one at 3000 Oak Glen in the Savannah Lakes Subdivision which totally engulfed the structure.

According to Jerry Buchannan, interim fire chief, the fire started when lightning struck the gas line in the fireplace and then spread to the rest of the house.

The 3 alarm fire brought engines from East Montgomery, St. Bethlehem, and Clarksville to battle the blaze.

A neighbor reported that a 12 year old boy was at home at the time the fire started and he saw flames shooting from the fireplace and ran to the neighbor’s house.
