Where are you from originally?
Clarksville, TN
How long have you been in Clarksville?
I returned to Clarksville in 2003 after being away for roughly 30 years.
What brought you to Clarksville?
My family still lives here and I wanted to be close to them. No matter where I traveled, I was always drawn back to Clarksville, it’s home!
Tell us about your family.
I am one of 5 children of Sidney & Adie Bell Morrison. I have 2 brothers and 2 sisters. I am married to Bill Jones and have been for 27 years. We have 4 children, and 8 grandchildren. Bill is director of Food Safety and Quality Assurance for Sears Holdings and is a Reserve Police Officer for the Clarksville Police Department. My daughter Brandy lives with us and helps me run Clarksville Police Supply.
What do you like most about Clarksville?
The small town feel, and the friendliness of its people. I am a country girl at heart.
If you could have any other profession/dream job, what would it be?
My favorite job I have ever held was as an Emergency Medical Technician. Due to health reasons, I had to give it up, but I still love emergency medicine. I loved the work in the emergency room and most of all the ambulance work.
What is your favorite meal?
Lobster, shrimp and scallops.
What is the easiest and most difficult part of your job every day?
As a councilwoman, my easiest job is talking with citizens with issues and concerns and trying to help solve them. As a business owner, juggling employees and customers needs, and expectations.
What do you drive?
To work a 2005 Chevrolet pick-up truck, and for family a 2005 Buick Rainier.
What’s your favorite movie or TV show?
Movies - Madea movies.
TV - Cops, Blue Bloods Who do you look up to?
My husband. He is one of the kindest and most giving people I have ever met. Honesty and integrity are not an option.
Who is your role model?
My mother and late father. They gave us everything we needed in life, while struggling to make ends meet. We had no indoor plumbing and running water growing up, but we considered ourselves blessed and we were loved!
What has been the toughest challenge you’ve had to overcome in your life?
My daughters brain surgery when she was 10. It was elective, but changed her life for the good forever.
What do you hope to be doing 10 years from now?
Continuing to do non-profit work and helping Clarksville see an end to homelessness and hunger in Clarksville.
How would you like your life to look 10 years from now?
As blessed as I am today.
Have you ever been issued a speeding ticket?
Yes, in North Carolina about 15 years ago.
Why did you choose your current profession?
Need based on good business practice in the home repair business.
Where did you go to school and what did you study?
Northwest High School, general studies. Augusta College, nursing.
When and to where was your last vacation?
Caribbean, last year.
What is your favorite pastime or hobby?
Serving others in need and giving back to the community.
What advice can you give others juggling a family and career?
Take a deep breath and prioritize. Pray for your family and others daily.
How do you start your day?
Slowly
What are you passionate about in life?
Homelessness and hunger.
What is something most Clarksvillians wouldn’t know about you?
I once found $20,000 in cash in front of a bank. I returned it to the bank and was given a $250.00 reward!
If you could leave one message to the Clarksville community what would it be?
I believe we must focus on bringing good jobs to Clarksville, so our youth can remain here and raise their families where they want to be. I would wish for more compassion from our residents and those who are here temporarily, so that we can all be proud to be Clarksvillians!! We are so blessed here in this area!
