Clarksville General Manager for DEX Imaging, a full service copier, printer and software Company based out of Tampa Florida. I am also a co-owner in multiple hunting themed websites, including Callingducks.com and TNDucks.com.
Where are you from originally?
Birmingham, Alabama
How long have you been in Clarksville? What brought you to Clarksville?
I came to Clarksville in 1992 courtesy of the United States Air Force.
Tell us about your family.
I am married to my wonderful wife Kristi and we have one daughter, Macy. Kristi is an Elementary Technology Teacher at Clarksville Academy where Macy attends 6th grade.
What do you like most about Clarksville?
The people that live here make this a great place to live. We still have that awesome small town feel with so many big town amenities and opportunities. The ample outdoor opportunities around our area are another great draw to the community.
If you could have any other profession/dream job what would it be?
Wow… I guess professional Powerball winner would be awfully cool. Actually I would love to be an imbedded photographer overseas with the ability to capture the raw emotion that many of us over here in the States never see in our lifetime. I truly enjoy being outdoors and being in the woods so anything along those lines. Or I would love to have a small family run restaurant.
What is your favorite meal?
I love to eat, like really eat, not just play around. My wife makes this really good dish called Chicken Croissants…mmmm. I like fried chicken with hot sauce, thin pizza from Papa Murphy’s (doctored up of course), big honkin’ Ribeye cooked just right on my grill with homemade horse radish, anything spicy or Cajun, steak sandwich with pepper jack or bacon cheeseburger with buffalo cheddar from the Choppin’ Block. Baby back ribs off the grill done just right...slowwww grilled chicken thighs with seasoning UNDER the crispy skin….and the occasional salad.
What is the easiest and most difficult part of your job every day?
It’s easy for me to work with people. I like people in general and love solving their problems. The most difficult part of the job is being everywhere at once, and also letting everyone know what you do.
What do you drive?
White GMC crew cab pick up.
What’s your favorite movie or TV show?
Vision Quest from back in the 80’s is a great movie; I really can’t stand reality TV although I think I should be on all of them, except the Bachelor of course.
Who do you look up too? Who is your role model?
A handful of men including my father have meant a lot to me. My Dad of course made me who I am. My Grandfather was incredible and meant the world to me; Bobby Durrett taught me a ton in the short time I knew him. I wish I could still talk to both of them. I had a Commander in the military by the name of Mike Davenport that still means a lot to me as well. He said a lot of important things in a short amount time. These guys were all “life changers” for me.
What has been the toughest challenge you’ve had to overcome in your life?
Being on my own when I came to Clarksville was a challenge for sure, but I wouldn’t call it “tough,” just part of growing up and I enjoyed every piece of it. I’ve been fortunate to an extent I guess I just see what some call challenges as another chapter in the book.
What do you hope to be doing 10 years from now? How would you like your life to look 10 years from now?
That small restaurant thing would be great -cooking what I want for who I want. I love making people happy with food.
Have you ever been issued a speeding ticket?
Yes.
Why did you choose your current profession?
It kinda chose me.
Where did you go to school and what did you study?
I have a BS in Environmental Geography from Austin Peay. That’s why I sell office equipment, of course.
When and to where was your last vacation?
Reelfoot Lake last week.
What is your favorite pastime or hobby?
Anything outdoors and cooking.
How do you start your day?
Large Diet Coke from Sonic. Gotta work on that one…
What are you passionate about in life?
My family, also really kind of life in general, those that know me well would say I have a tendency to go “wide open” into a lot.
What is something most Clarksvillians wouldn’t know about you?
I was the first US Air Force person to ever jump into the country of Guinea, South America and I landed in the trees.
