CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – This morning, Montgomery County Sheriff’s officials announced the death of an inmate.
 
“At approximately 5 a.m., while checking inmates for roll call, a 23-year-old male, Eric Baggett, was found un-responsive at the Montgomery County Jail,” said Ted Denny, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer.
 
Montgomery County Emergency Medical Service officials were immediately notified and the victim was transported to Gateway Hospital and pronounced dead at 5:49 a.m.
 
The cause of inmate Baggett’s death is under investigation by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations unit.
