A 101st Airborne Division Soldier died March 29 of wounds suffered from small arms fire in Kunar province, Afghanistan. A total of six Screaming Eagle Soldiers were killed March 29, while conducting an on-going operation in one of Afghanistan's most volatile provinces.
Private Jeremy P. Faulkner, 23, of Griffin, Ga., was an Infantryman assigned to Charlie Company, 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). He joined the Army in January 2009 and arrived at Fort Campbell in June 2009.
His awards and decorations include: Army Commendation Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Afghanistan Campaign Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Ribbon; North Atlantic Treaty Organization Medal; Parachutist Badge and Combat Infantryman Badge.
Faulkner is survived by his father Joel Faulkner of Rex, Ga. and mother, Julia Berry of Griffin, Ga.
A memorial service will be held for Pvt. Faulkner in Afghanistan. Fort Campbell holds a monthly Eagle Remembrance Ceremony to honor fallen Screaming Eagles. The next ceremony will be held April 13 at 4 p.m.
