Martinez, most recently known as the winner of Season 13 “Dancing with the Stars” and for his roles on “All My Children” and “Army Wives” came back to Fort Campbell on his book signing tour.

In the book, Martinez tells the entire story of survival, strength and spirit after being burned over 30 percent of his body when trapped in his vehicle, which was hit by an IED while his unit was on patrol in Iraq in 2003.

The book starts when at a young age, the hardships of being raised by a single mother from Central America who struggled with work and also trying to find love and happiness.

“My dad left when I was nine months old and I’ve never met him.  I saw my mother struggling to make it and have all the things that everyone would love to have and I watched her go through some abusive relationships which was hard for a young kid”,  Said Martinez.

When asked about his acting career, Martinez said, “I never in my wildest dreams thought about acting.  I was all about football growing up and then when I joined the Army I was all about the Military.”  “It didn’t take too much convincing though when they asked me to get into acting.”

As far as future plans, Martinez says he enjoys living in Los Angeles and he’s thinking about doing movies and other projects there.

And the most important question this reporter asked was, “Where do you keep your Mirror Ball Trophy”.  (from winning Dancing with the Stars)  Martinez answered, “I was going to put it in my Man Cave but that’s been turned into a nursery cave for my beautiful baby girl, so it’s sitting by the TV.”
