Early Voting Starts Friday

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Early voting for the August 2 Tennessee State Primary and Montgomery County General Election starts Friday, July 13 and runs through Saturday, July 28.  Registered voters can cast their ballots at the Montgomery County Election Commission office at 350 Pageant Lane, Suite 404 in Veterans Plaza.

Vickie Koelman, Administrator of Elections for Montgomery County encouraged voters to cast their ballots early.  “The Election Commission office is the only location where you can vote early, we have a large space and we can handle quite a number of people.  Everyone is welcome to vote early and you don’t need to have a special reason to vote early,” said Koelman.

If you plan on voting early don’t forget to be sure and take a photo ID with you to the Election Commission office.  As of January 1st of this year the law requires that all voters must present a state or federal issued photo ID with the voter’s name.

The hours for early voting at the Election Commission office are 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday and Saturday 9:00 a.m.-Noon.  On the last day of early voting, Saturday, July 28 the office will be open 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.  On Election Day, Thursday, August 2 the polls will be open at the precincts in Montgomery County from 7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.

Races on the ballot in the August election include Tennessee State Senate, District 22, Tennessee House of Representatives, Districts 67, 68 and 74, Montgomery County Assessor of Property, Highway Supervisor, and Clarksville-Montgomery County School Board, Districts 2, 4 and 6.

For more information about early voting or voting in the upcoming August 2 or November 6 elections, stop by the Montgomery County Election Commission office at 350 Pageant Lane, Suite 404 in Veterans Plaza.  You can also call (931) 648-5707 or visit the Montgomery County Government website at www.mcgtn.org.
