College Goal Sunday Coming to APSU

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – On Sunday, February 12th, Austin Peay State University will be hosting the College Goal Sunday event from 2-4 p.m. in the Morgan University Center Main Lobby.

If you’re a Tennessee resident who could qualify for undergraduate admission to a college, university, career college or technical school, and you need financial aid and help filling out the FAFSA, then College Goal Sunday is for you.  Financial aid professionals will be available to answer questions FREE.

Students  should attend with a parent or guardian if possible, students 24 or older are considered independent and apply using only their information.

The following information should be brought with you:  2011 Tax Returns for both you and your parents, 2011 W-2 forms, Social Security Numbers, Driver’s License, Alien Registration (if you are not a U.S. citizen), Checking and Savings Account balance information, and Business Investments and other Family Assets (other than your home).  If you or your parents have not completed your tax forms yet then bring the 2010 tax forms.

“Attending this event will be the first step towards your college degree”, said Rep. Joe Pitts (D-Clarksville).  “On average college graduates earn $900,000 dollars more than high school graduates over a lifetime.  College opens career doors, and it introduces you to new ideas, roles, lifestyles and people,” Pitts said.

To learn more about College Goal Tennessee or for answers to your specific financial aid questions, call the College Goal Tennessee hotline toll-free at 1-800-342-1663.  As an added benefit the College Goal Tennessee hotline will be available on January 29th, 2012 and February 12th, 2012 from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. to answer FAFSA questions and provide the most current information about site locations.  You can also visit their web site at www.tn.gov/collegegoalsunday.
