It’s been a hot season for Clarksville National Girl’s Softball and one team kept the heat turned up on the competition to win the District 9 Tournament to be recognized as our Charter Business Athlete of the Week.

The Clarksville National Red Bulls went into the tournament undefeated on the season with Head Coach, Michael Blackwell, saying they played really well, hit the ball well and he added as far as talent they were one of the best 10 year old teams.

The Red Bulls won the State Championship as 8 year olds in 2010 and came in 3rd last year for 9 year olds.  The majority of the girls have played in the Clarksville Nationals since they were age 5.

“One of the things that I truly believe that this league teaches is not only softball but we try to teach life lessons.  We try to teach them not to be afraid to fail and giving 110 percent is enough whether they make the play or not.  As long as they’re giving their best that’s good enough,” said Coach Blackwell.

Blackwell also said there are two things the girls can control on the field and that’s their attitude and their effort.  If they can control their attitude and their efforts then they will all be winners.  Coach Blackwell is assisted with the team by coaches Drew Goins and Doyle Robertson.

The Clarksville National Red Bulls head to Maryville, Tennessee to first face District 5 in the State Championship.  The championship starts on July 14 and will wrap up on July 19 with the championship game.

Congratulations to the Clarksville National Red Bulls Girls Softball Team as this week’s Charter Business Athlete of the Week.
