CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Clarksville Police say they responded to a call of shots fired at an apartment at 218 South 3rd Street Saturday around 5:30 p.m. and found a man, 24 year old Gregory Premus, with a gunshot wound to his torso.

Premus, was transported to Gateway Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
A preliminary investigation indicated that Premus and his friend Robert Brown had been handling a loaded handgun when the firearm inadvertently discharged and struck Premus.

In a press release from the Clarksville Police Department, Public Information Officer Jim Knoll says the investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed.
