CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Carmel Elementary School had their "Back to School Night" on Monday, Aug. 6. Incoming students and their families were greeted by the School’s Principal, Rosanne Sanford.
The new school has a capacity of over 800 students but according to Principal Sanford, they have only registered a little over 500 so far.
Erica Harris, 3rd grade teacher at the new school said, “I love this new school and everybody here is working together as a team.” When asked about the new computers in her new room, Harris said, “they will be a big help in my teaching, using them for reading and math.”
The first half day of school is Wednesday, Aug. 8 and the first full day is Friday, Aug. 10. For more information go to www.cmcss.net.

Will take place May 25-26 at the War Memorial Walking Trail Park, 101 Walter Garrett Lane, Oak Grove, KY. All activities will begin at 12 p.m. both days and the festival is free and open to the public. The festival includes a free carnival, various vendors, variety shows and a free concert with Joe Nichols at the Viceroy Performing Arts Center on Saturday. Breakfast Latino Style for Chiapas
Will take place Sunday, May 26 from 8-11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Family Life Center, 709 Franklin St. The event will take place every fourth Sunday of the month. This month's featured country is Brazil. Prices for breakfast items starts at $5. Proceeds raised from the breakfast items sold go to two parishes in the southern part of Mexico, San Pedro Chenalho and San Pablo Chalchihuitan.
