Business Spotlight - Fleur de Lis

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – If you’re looking for a unique experience for your next shopping trip you should stop by Fleur De Lis in downtown Clarksville. ClarksvilleNow.com recently paid a visit to Fleur De Lis to talk with Owner Summer Jackson and learn more about how her years of running a business out of her home led her to open her first retail store.

Fleur De Lis opened their doors at 100 S. Main Street during the 2010 Rivers & Spires Festival. Jackson talked about her venture into the retail business, “I just figured I would teach myself along the way and it’s come to what it is today,” Jackson said.

After spending a number of years running her business out of her home and over the internet, Jackson took all of her customer service experience and created the success of Fleur De Lis. Along with Jackson, there are three other ladies who make up the staff at Fleur De Lis.

“It’s very eclectic, very shabby-chic kind of feel. It’s comfortable. I want it to feel like that same environment that I started out with, like you’re waking into a house, not just a commercialized or industrialized feel of a store,” said Jackson, when asked to describe her store.

It is almost impossible to describe all the unique items that you’ll find inside the store. It really is one of those you’ve got to see it for yourself, because there are so many different things you’ll find as you make your way around the store. There’s a large selection of fashionable jewelry, clothing and countless other miscellaneous items for shoppers looking for something special.

Jackson mentioned why she believes her customers enjoy shopping at the store, “They want to be a little trendier and take that fashionable step. So I try to listen to their wants and needs and guide them toward that feeling,” Jackson said. Customizing and personalization is a very big part of what Fleur De Lis offers, for customers often like to create special pieces for themselves, loved ones and friends.

For those who are wondering, the name Fleur De Lis came from a former partner Jackson had who was in love with New Orleans, and fleur de lis actually means flower lilly in French. “It sounds different, unfortunately it doesn’t roll off the tongue for some as well as others, but I feel like you know you’re going into something different,” Jackson said.

You’ll find Fleur De Lis at 100 S. Main Street in Clarksville, on the corner of First and Main. They can also be found on Facebook or you can call them at 931-338-1062. Fleur De Lis’ hours are Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
