DogHouse Computers actually began about 25 years ago through the efforts of Tom Denney in the city of Corinth, Mississippi. He and his wife JoAnn had a long history in the printing business and as they followed the printing industry it led them from Corinth to Clarksville.
”The reason it was called the dog house was because it was in our bedroom and I would get very upset when I come home at night and my bedroom would be full of people repairing computers and Tom would say I’m in the dog house. So that’s how it got its name, said JoAnn Denney.Taylor Rather, Tom and JoAnn Denney’s son took over the business and has been running it successfully since 1995 after opening the store at 1214 College Street. In June of 2011 DogHouse Computers set up shop at their new location at 1549 Wilma Rudolph Boulevard.
“We’ve got a state of the art tech room back there, that’s really nice and we get to roll through a whole lot more much faster and of course the showroom is much nicer. We can house a whole bunch more people and a whole bunch more computers for people to look at for folks,” said Taylor Rather, Chief Executive Officer for DogHouse Computers.
One of the newest services from DogHouse Computers is their monitoring system for small businesses. “We can actually determine problems before customers know it. The monitoring service on all the work stations, all the servers, all the devices, really lets us know ahead of time before any type of problems arise that can take down their business,” Rather said.
Denney added more emphasis to the importance of DogHouse Computer’s monitoring service. “The monitoring system is like insurance, it’s like insurance to make sure you don’t have a problem. It’s to catch your problems before they happen. It’s a burglar system for your network. So really it’s a tool, we call it insurance to keep your computers safe. Most small business can’t afford a $50,000 to $60,000 a year IT guy. Yet today every small business is built around that computer,” said Denney.
Dog House sells all popular brands of computers Dell, Acer, Toshiba, Apple and of course they offer service and repair. Another aspect of their business is TECHSTORE.us which is a division of DogHouse Computers Incorporated which Rather says is actually their biggest store where they sell around 40,000 products.
DogHouse has branded their monitoring and IT services under the TECHSTORE.us which is a division of DogHouse Incorporated and rather said if we don’t have it in the store you can definitely find it on the web site.
Gaming, which is extremely popular, is another aspect of technology where DogHouse Computers leads the way with pre built and custom built gaming boxes as well as gaming chairs, racing wheels and all of the accessories. There are a number of DogHouse Computer customers who also build their own computers and will stop by the store for the parts and service they need. Along with supplying those folks who build their own computers DogHouse offers used and refurbished electronics with 30 day warranties on most of the equipment.
Along with all of their technology services, DogHouse Computers is also doing its part for the environment by offering electronics recycling. It’s a free service and all you have to do is drop off your unwanted electronic items at their store.
