Business Spotlight - Allen's Fireworks

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – When you talk about businesses that have a long history of serving Clarksville Allen’s Fireworks should be near the top of the list. Recently, I sat down with Justin Grant, General Manager of Allen’s Fireworks, and found out about the locally-owned family business that has been in Clarksville for 65 years.

Grant and I talked about how one of the most unique aspects of Allen’s Fireworks is that they are open year round, “You can get fireworks for birthdays, weddings, graduations, New Years, all kinds of events throughout the year,” Grant said. Allen’s Fireworks is also unique because they have had an indoor facility since 1975, located on 2169 Fort Campbell Boulevard.

Allen’s specializes in a wide variety of fireworks. “We have the largest selection of fireworks. Many locations carry only one brand and they are limited to those items. Since we’re open year round, we have a higher volume so we have the opportunity to pick multiple brands and have a very large selection of different items,” said Grant.

Justin also talked about the no-duds guarantee, which they place on every item they sell. It is something offered by Allen’s Fireworks that helps bring customers back time and time again. Some of the top sellers at Allen’s Fireworks are Finale Shells. These types of fireworks let people have their own big show.

Throughout the year, there are a number of events featuring fireworks that Allen’s is a part of in the community. For the past three years, the June Boom, held at The Lodge Sports Pub near Governor’s Square Mall, has been Allen’s signature event where they demonstrate their new fireworks items each year. The Best of Clarksville and the Biker’s Who Care Toy Run are two other events in the fall where Allen’s holds a fireworks show.

“One of the things I’m big about with our customers is when they come in I want them to get exactly what they want. So we use June Boom as a way for them to actually see something to know what they’re getting prior to buying it,” Grant said, talking about the June Boom. There is also video footage of June Boom that is played inside Allen’s, so customers who can’t attend can get a better idea of the products they’re buying.

A new product that Allen’s Fireworks now carries is Fuse Connex, which will help those people who want a bigger and better home fireworks show. Fuse Connex can be used to string multiple fireworks together to create your own finale show by just lighting one fuse.

Fireworks safety is always something Allen’s emphasizes. They encourage people shooting off fireworks to have a water hose or water bucket on hand, to use fireworks only on flat surfaces and to use common sense when reading all directions.

One final note that Grant shared with me was the local laws on the use of fireworks. In Montgomery County fireworks are legal year-round, but in the City of Clarksville fireworks can only be set off July 1-5, for the 4th of July, and December 28-January 2, for New Year’s Eve.

You’ll find Allen’s Fireworks at 2169 Fort Campbell Boulevard in Clarksville. They are open 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. through July 4th and 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. after July 4th.
