Morning and Midday Talent for The Beaver 100.3 WVVR FM
Where are you from originally?
Lewisburg, KY
How long have you been in Clarksville? What brought you to Clarksville?
I moved to Clarksville in November of 2003 because our studios were relocated here from Hopkinsville. I was living in Russellville, KY and as much as I loved living closer to my family, I was tired of the long drive to work.
Tell us about your family.
My mom and dad live in Lewisburg, KY so they’re only about an hour away. I’ve never lived more than an hour from my momma and that’s the way I like it! I have my mom’s good looks and my daddy’s charm. If we lived closer to each other that would be great! My brother, sister in law, nieces and nephews live in Bowling Green, KY and we get together as much as possible. Completing my little family is a very spoiled dog and cat.
What do you like most about Clarksville?
I like how Clarksville is separated into different communities St. Bethlehem, Sango etc. and I have my favorite places to visit in each. I love the parks! The best part though is being so close to Nashville, PF Chang’s and the Grand Ole Opry!
If you could have any other profession/dream job what would it be?
I’m actually working at my dream job by being on the air with WVVR 100.3 FM. But if I couldn’t do radio anymore I’d be in law enforcement. My ‘wish I had the nerve to do that’ job would be stand up comedy. I love making folks laugh!
What is your favorite meal?
Anything my mom makes and PF Chang’s Vegetarian Lettuce Wraps, Crispy Green Beans and Beef and Broccoli with brown rice. If any city planning people can bring a PF Chang’s to Clarksville, I’ll be your BFF.
What is the easiest and most difficult part of your job?
The easiest part of my job is having fun, being creative and interacting with listeners. It’s great to give away prizes! Plus, getting to help various charities and meeting some amazing people. The hardest part of my job is getting up at 3am then functioning mentally in the afternoon! Another difficult part of the job is long hours during severe weather, but it’s worth it if we can help keep people safe during the storms.
What’s your favorite Movie or TV show?
Lonesome Dove. MASH is my all time favorite TV show, but my recent favorites include Say Yes to the Dress, Pawn Stars and The Marty Stuart Show.
Who do you look up to? Who is your role model?
Jesus Christ is Lord of my life. I’m inspired by others who have the same love for Christ and devote their lives to Him. I’m fortunate to know many people that are witnesses for the Gospel and who have wonderful attitudes, giving spirits and hearts full of love. I strive to be more like that every day. What has been your toughest challenge you’ve had to overcome?
Impatience.
What do you hope to be doing 10 years from now? How would you like your life to look 10 years from now?
Life is great now. I hope I’m married with a family within the next 10 years, but ultimately I can’t wait to see what God has planned.
Have you ever been issued a speeding ticket?
No
Why did you choose your current profession?
I was in college and thought I was going to teach high school, but quickly changed my mind when I went to observe at my former high school. My brother had worked in radio and his girlfriend was working in radio at the time and told me I should try the basic classes and I was hooked.
Where did you go to school and what did you study?
I graduated from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY with a major in Broadcasting and minors in Psychology and Criminology.
When and where was your last vacation?
I recently went on my second mission trip with the church to the Copper Basin Crisis Center in East TN. I was the person that thought I’d never go on a mission trip but God knew better and it was a life changing experience. I encourage anyone thinking about going to do mission work, especially if it feels completely out of your comfort zone, to pray on it and go.
What is your favorite pastime or hobby?
I love live music. I like a wide variety of music but especially Country, Bluegrass and Christian. My favorite concert venue is the Ryman Auditorium. It’s the best!
How do you start your day?
Early and on auto-pilot most days, 3:00 AM is a wake up time you don’t really ever get used to.
What are you passionate about in life?
My relationship with Jesus Christ is my life. I grew up thinking I knew the Lord, but mostly thinking I knew better. Then a few years ago I found out what it means to truly be saved, to give one’s life to Christ and trust Him completely.
What is something most Clarksvillians wouldn’t know about you?
I love potato chips and I could eat them with every meal.
If you could leave one message to the Clarksville community what would it be?
First of all let me say thanks to the military and their families. I’m grateful for you and you are in my prayers. Next, it’s tough to do sometimes, but live in the moment, be positive and look for the good in folks.
