CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. The second round of severe storms that hit Clarksville on Thursday afternoon caused power outages that affected approximately 3,000 Clarksville Department of Electricity (CDE) customers.
CDE crews were still trying to restore power to around 50 customers who had been without power since Wednesday when the second round of storms hit.
As of 8 a.m. Friday morning, approximately 1,000 CDE customers were still without power.
The main cause of the power outages have been trees that have fallen on power lines. Many of the trees are very large and require a lot of time to remove before the lines can be re-energized.
CDE contract crews, as well as crews from Dickson, Murfreesboro and Gallatin are assisting in the restoration efforts.
“We greatly appreciate the assistance from our neighboring utilities,” said Brian Taylor, CDE Interim Superintendent. “We also appreciate the patience of our customers as we work to get power restored to everyone in a safe manner as quickly as possible.”
Areas that are currently affected include Craigmont, Georgetown Rd., Greenwood Ave., Gracey Ave., Edmonson Ferry Rd., Cedarcroft, West Park Dr., Allenwood Dr., Chickasaw Dr., Delamar Dr., Liberty Pkwy, McGraw St. and Dewitt Dr. Scattered outages have also been reported in other areas.
If you see trees on lines or power lines down, stay away and report them to CDE at 931-648-8151.
