It was the 5th year for the clinic which drew about 20 female fans of the game and was held in the football offices of the Dunn Center.  Members of the Governors coaching staff and players demonstrated various plays of the game.  Not only did the event offer an education on the sport but the Women’s Football Clinic also supports breast cancer awareness.

Rick Christophel, Head Football Coach at Austin Peay talked about the clinic and the events support for breast cancer.  “We’re trying to raise awareness of breast cancer, that’s the most important thing.  We’re trying to get some money and our proceeds are donated to that.  The other thing is to get ladies interested in football,” said Christophel.

Christophel added that more and more women are starting to watch football and when they can figure out what’s going on they might be able to tell their husbands a thing or two.  Christophel also said that over the past four years of the program they have donated over $2,200 to breast cancer research and his goal is to be able to donate over $1,000 each year.
